Verizon Relaunches Android App Store

After a not so successful first attempt Verizon launches its app store for smartphones. The new app store called Verizon Apps will be presented for free to Verizon customers with Droid phones. This app store will coexist with the preloaded Google's Android Market.
The app store offers apps that are exclusively available to its subscribers. Live video of National Football League games is one such app provided by the Verizon apps store. On Tuesday, the U.S. cellular giant is set to introduce the new mobile software marketplace at its Las Vegas conference for developers. Verizon and Chomp have briefed the news reporters on the news. People can search the Verizon apps store called V Cast Apps along with the Google's Market. The app store never gained significant traction.
Last month, Verizon opened an office. Software developers were welcome to code mobile apps and test them on the carrier's hardware. Kyle Malady, a Verizon technology executive said there were shortcomings with its V Cast market and there was room other storefronts. Most big app developers complain that their apps fail to get exposure on other app stores.
