GetJar has launched a new program which will offer several premium Android apps for free. The mobile app store, GetJar is trying to grab the lucrative app store business.
The new GetJar Gold service is specifically offering premium Android apps for free. These include some apps which cost up to $4.99 on the Android Market and the Amazon's Appstore. GetJar is currently offering only 40 such apps but new ones will be introduced daily to the site. The store also stated that the company selects only the best apps across all categories to offer to the user.
Some of the titles that are available for free on GetJar Gold service are- Age of Zombies, Solo and Splashtop Remote Desktop. These apps cost in the range of $2.99 to $4.99 across the Android Market and the Amazon store. GetJar pays the developers for every install but the free apps get more attention and are downloaded almost 10 to 20 times more than the paid app.
