Android, Google's store for selling applications for its Android mobile platform, has reached 6 billion downloads. Android devices are most popular nowadays with around 500,000 new devices being activated every day. It's not games in the Android Market that are generating the highest revenue, but weather applications. Traditionally games dominate application stores, and in the Android Market about a quarter of all downloads are games. However, in the weather category, there are fewer applications to compete with and they are the kind of applications that all smart phone users download.
Android is growing faster with Google approaching 6 billion downloads but still Apple is leading with I-Tunes applications store hitting 10 billion downloads. Also I-Tunes carry around 600,000 applications, while Android has 277,252.
